The Oasis Book CLub for the Homeless
Inspire the mind, Empower the Spirit
Each Tuesday morning from 10:00 a.m. until noon a number of friends ,some homeless, some once were, come together in a wonderfully comfortable room to explore and discuss an interesting variety of books. It is where we share personal experiences, insights and observations. We have grown to become friends who listen, support and encourage each other in a way that is unique to our life experiences. A way that fosters trust and devotion to the group and a way that says ," You are valuable and I hear you".Not only do we find value in each other but even the room in which we meet assures us of our importance. The room, a meeting room at " The Church on the Hill" in downtown Boston, is filled with historically significant portraits, over stuffed high back chairs and a darkly stained round table at which we meet.Welcome truly begins the moment we walk through the front door.
